Save-A-Lot is defeated when Aldi is nearby and Lidl is coming. There is not much room in limited assortment/discount grocers.
I forgot Winn-Dixie #918 was not replaced by Winn-Dixie #911, Market Square, 1805 Wayne Memorial Dr,
Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534-2241. Winn-Dixie #911 closed before 2005. Winn-Dixie #918 closed when Winn-Dixie exited North Carolina in 2005.
Bids will be opened Thursday, September 8 for the awarding of a contract for the construction of the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center.
As a former resident of Goldsboro, I have to wonder what all the fuss is about. Road improvements are fine, and a grocery store closing is seldom good news, but is that really what passes for interesting topics down there these days? I can understand the concern about crime, but hopefully this is not what stands now about what used to be a nice little town.

It may not be noteworthy to most, but Wilbur's BBQ was one of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. Now that's good food!

Brewmasters, a craft beer restaurant, is opening it's second location in Goldsboro. It's first location is in Wilson. Brewmasters is moving into the former McDonald's building at 2402 East Ash Street. The building is currently undergoing renovations in preparation.
Construction is also moving along on the new Deacon Jones Autoplex.
There use to be a eating place heading toward the town on the main road outside the gate of Seymour-Johnson AFB. You would go straight out the main gate and make a left hand turn I believe the second light onto Ash. It was or is on the right hand side. The building look like an old "Lums".
It had the best flounder in town. My boss from the base would have his staff meeting there every Friday. Does anyone know the name of it? Thanks!

I think the business was Heroes Oyster Bar and Grill at the corner of Ash and Berkeley. From what I seen it moved to the old Pizza Inn just down the road on Ash St. near Greenwood Middle. East Coast Wings and Grill took over the old location.

Sorry, that wasn't the name of the place. If anyone ever remembers Lums, it looks like their building. It was a family type establishment. This was way back in 1978. Wow many moons ago!
