Hello all,
We are coming in Sept to check the area out again and to make a final decision about relocation. I have a question for the local boat owners.....
Does either the town of Carolina Beach, or Wrightsville Beach or Wilmington itself have town owned boat moorings?
We are coming from Greater Boston area and up here you are able to lease a boat mooring from the town or city you live in. We of coarse pay a fee every year but works out much better than buying or renting a slip from a private marina etc. ( it is much cheaper) There are no extras with the town mooring, it is just a place to tie up but it is yours as long as you pay for it every year.

The closest thing I can find is in Carolina Beach, but it is only for fishing charter and party boats. Everything else seems to be privately owned.

i don't know of any city owned moorings, but there are always at least half a dozen sailboats anchored in Bank's Channel near Wrightsville Beach.
