[quote=Sohogirl;36574498]I am presently in Maryland. I am 50 year old student getting her Masters in Social Work Clinical Mental Health. At the end of this year I will be looking for LSW jobs in Wilmington. Here is one of my problems. I have lived in a house here in Maryland for over 13 years. I got involved in animal rescue (which I don't do anymore) and although I have found homes for many strays, I have my own family of very beloved dogs and cats (also rescued) that have been with me for many years. I have a 120 lb Black and Tan Coon Hound, a 40 lb poodle/spaniel (9 years old) and a 12 lb Pomeranian (9 years old). These dogs are very well behaved and never, in the time I have been with them, have they ever destroyed my house. I also have 5 pretty old cats, litter trained and obedient to that. Not once have any of them ever urinated on anything in my house. I am fastidious about cleaning the litter and about taking them to the vets. Do you think it is possible to rent a home in the county outside of Wilmington proper? Has anyone had a similar problem?
Do you know of or have any suggestions as what I can do. Parting with them is not an option. It would be like parting with my children if I had been fortunate enough to have any. Thank you very much. I will look forward to hearing from any of you here at the forum.
Deborah

You are making a large assumption that you will find a job in Wilmington.

However, I will make a few suggestions about your housing needs, depending on how much cash you have.

1. Place an ad on the Eastern North Carolina Craigslist as a "rental wanted". Offer to pay a 6-month security deposit for your pets.

2. Also use Craigslist and a local newspaper. Say that you want to rent with an option to buy a house. Offer a generous earnest money deposit.

3. If you don't have cash, find a job near where you live presently, and save until you have a down payment to purchase a house.
