Does anyone know if dogs are allowed on Sunset and Holden beaches leashed or non-leashed? I'm moving to southern NC or northern SC and don't want to be somewhere that my lab can't enjoy the water.

Thanks from the frozen north! I can't leave here soon enough!

it's been a while since I've had my dog on the beach, but, every time I go down to fish the Coast, or piers, or take a boat out, I see people with dogs, on the beach. As long as you are a responisible pet owner (clean up after the dog) I don't think you will have any trouble.

Each town has its own ordinances as mentioned in another reply. I know that Wrightsville Beach does not allow dogs at all during the tourist season (Mar 1-Oct 31). In the off season, dogs are allowed on leash, and owners must pick up after the dogs. Owners must have something to pick up after their dogs (plastic bag) at all times.

The sad fact is that it only takes a couple of bad apples to spoil it for the rest of us who are responsible owners

OOPS, forgot to mention that I normally hit the area from Atlantic Beach to Emerald Isle, Wrightsville Beach et al is not my normal fishing grounds.
