Just saw this about a 46,000 sq ft "grocery" off Bragg and College Rd.

Developer proposes retail building off South College Road | WilmingtonBiz

There is a Food Lion shopping center on the corner of 17th and College, a Harris Teeter at Shipyard and College. There is a light at Bragg off College.

The biggest potential issue here may be that the Bragg site borders the Pine Valley single family neighborhood at the rear and Bragg is the entrance to a couple of multi-family developments.

There is rumored to be a Publix coming to Ogden as well.

Most new Publix stores are around 46,000 square feet in size. ("New Store Openings." Publix Super Markets)

I have heard Publix may be looking at these North Carolina cities: Burlington, Chapel Hill, Durham, Fayetteville, Gastonia, Goldsboro, Greensboro, Greenville, Hickory, High Point, Jacksonville, Kannapolis, Kinston, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Wilmington, Wilson.

Publix is more interested in competing with Harris Teeter than Food Lion. I imagine that they will want to be closer to current Harris Teeter locations.
