True. I've heard/seen plans for DTR possibly building a small arena/stadium near the Red hat amphitheater to hold events. Of course, they wouldn't be able to move the mudcats there, but could definitely go the Independent baseball route. I believe it would work out well and be pretty successful. Maybe a small 5-6,000 seat stadium

I'm not sure how a alcohol-allowed College ballpark would work in Raleigh.

Side note to monitor: While the Astros are committed to having a team in the Carolina League and would like to be in Fayetteville long-term, they don't actually have an official place to play in 2017; nor has Fayetteville sealed the deal officially on a new stadium. Right now the Astros are still considering stadiums (including colleges) in both NC and SC for a home for 2017. They are supposed to decide this month.

?? Not sure what you mean by alcohol-allowed College ballpark. I'm referring building a stadium to play in an Independent baseball league like the Atlantic League of Professional baseball. Leagues like this would not fall under MLB or MiLB jurisdiction. Raleigh could have it's own team and wouldn't have to give two rips about Durham or the Mudcats.

Here's an article about a potential downtown Raleigh arena/stadium.

Sure this has nothing to do with Kinston, but interesting how it all could work out an affect baseball in this state.

I feel like Jim Goodmon would have a big problem with that. And though he's not a spiteful type he does have the clout to stop it from happening.

I know silliness sometimes finds its way into naming minor league teams, but I honestly think they're about out of monikers...

I'm compromising. As far as I'm concerned, they are the DEWD's.
