Do a Google search for "Outer Banks Long Term Rentals" and it will give you links to several long term management companies. It's tough, but not impossible........Good luck!

Vacation time has nothing to do with it. If you want Annual Housing, so you don't have to move every six months, there is just a shortage, period.

Trust me, it's not just the time of the year. This situation has been going on since Irene took out many of the ground-floor or lower smaller beach cottages. Many were not rebuilt as they were probably illegal to begin with. And when a small house does go up for sale, it gets torn down and replaced with another vacation rental machine.

We've noticed a huge difference over the past 10 years. More people are coming to NC than leaving it, for one thing.

We rent Annual units only, and while we've certainly had people move, we've not had a VACANCY in years - the places get filled before the first tenant moves out.

Manteo, Grandy and Colington have more year round stuff, sometimes.

Well, it's definitely going to prove difficult finding something from what i've seen so far - particularly with a pet. My potential employer offers absolutely no help with attaining or finding housing in the area and kind of cringed at the near mention of it telling me how difficult it was for their last hire. Not sure if I could accept the job even if it's offered if I can't afford or find suitable housing.
