Best / Quietest Beach in NC??
My wife and I are trying to plan a trip to the beach in either North or South Carolina. We have been to Myrtle/North Myrtle Beach area a couple times, and its always really crowded. We are wanting a very peaceful and relaxing beach vacation. Can that even be found??? We want to stay in NC, but Im having trouble finding info on beach areas. Any advice would be great. Thanks for reading.

You should enjoy most of North Carolina beaches we dont have a beach similar to Myrtle.
You really can pick any beach from Ocean Isle to Corolla that will meet your needs to some with island type feel to them.
I would avoid Wrightsville, Carolina, Kure, and Nags Head they tend to be more touristy but not at the level Myrtle is. Any other beach are nice family beaches.
Just go to this map and drag it up and down and pick one and you will be fine

Visit the Outer Banks, and not just up at Kill Devil Hills - travel down to Rodanthe or Hatteras - you'll love the quieter side of life there

I would recommend Pine Knoll Shores. PKS sits in a lush maritime forest that is home to one of the three NC Aquariums. It is a really quiet town that lies between Atlantic Beach and Salter Path on Bogue Banks. Good luck.

We go down to Sunset Beach a couple of times a year and have found it to be very quiet and peaceful. It is certainly not a "party" beach, there are no high rises or condos on the beach.
There is a good number of "mature" folks with a nice balance of kids playing in the sand and waves.

Am partial to the Outer Banks as well, it picks up in the summer and it's a nice family area, not a ton of action but it's a good area for family vacations, quite a few nice restaurants there too.

I've never been to the Outer Banks..my family vacationed at Myrtle and North Myrtle Beaches in SC for so many years that I can remember when North Myrtle used to be quiet-not anymore!
Now I live very close to both Sunset and Ocean Isle Beach and both of these beaches are SO much quieter and more peaceful than Myrtle. (Yet still a short drive to Myrtle so you can go there for a day too if you want). What I love about these beaches is that they are not built up with highrises...you are in a quieter area for your beach visit but a short drive away from more excitement if you want it, yet you don't have to stay right in it. I especially recommend Sunset Beach. Also, unlike Myrtle Beach, these beaches are not going to put up bunches of highrises- they can't. (The county in general, Brunswick, on the other hand, is going to have a big boom over the coming years).
