I am single, late 30's with a 18 yr old. Dental Asst. I don't want the big city life of Wilmington. Something smaller like around 50,000 people any suggestions?

To me...I don't think of Wilmington as that much bigger than a 50K city. I guess because the downtown is fairly quaint with its Historic District and the beach communities have their own feel about them. And its not an "expressway" city...like say Greensboro where you get on and off interstate type roads all the time.

If you are going to be around 40 with no dependent kids...I would think Wilmington would be preferable because there would be more singles your age in a bigger place than Jacksonville (military) or Greenville (college age). Of course Greenville may work well if your 18 year old wants to go to school there (Pitt or ECU).
