Looking for any information, experiences good or bad you may have had using storage facilities in Brunswick County. I sold my home in NY much faster than I ever expected and haven't yet settled on exactly where I will end up in Brunswick County. I like Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle, Calabash area but need to build a home with 2 master suites on ground floor without spending a fortune, not an easy task.

I believe it will be much cheaper to store the contents of my home in NC than in NY but find the idea and coordination of this over whelming. Has anyone had to store the contents of their home long term in a storage facility in Brunswick County? I appreciate any and all feedback.

We moved last Sept from RI and used Omni Storage on 211. We could not have been more pleased with Omni Storage, we stored our stuff for 7 months. They have both climate controlled and not climate controlled units. The people are very nice, the units are exceptionally clean and the pricing is very reasonable. We highly recommend Omni. They are at 910-754-8882.

My sister and brother in law moved down last week after a life time on Long Island. They have stored all their earthly possessions at Omni, they rented a large climate controlled unit, for furniture an the like and a smaller non climate controlled unit for the grill and out door furniture. They are building in St. James and expected to be storing their stuff for a minimum of 6 months.

There is also an Omni storage on 17 in Shallote, which would be much closer for you if you will be looking at the Sunset Beach/ Ocean Isle area.

If you buy a lot and build you should be able to build a house with two Masters for reasonable money, if you shop well for a builder.

Let me know if you have other questions. You will love it down here. My sister in law, from NY, went from $19K in yearly taxes to $3200 a year for a 4000 sq. ft home.

Good Luck with your move.

Sentry Storage on 211 in Southport

Sentry Self Storage - Home

I can not say enough good things about this business. Accommodating, Fair, Helpful, Friendly, Efficient

They do U-Haul as well. Most U-Haul places seem to be run by morons ... not this one.

Its a large facility with several storage options. While I used their facility they allowed me to park a trailer or vehicle there for a night or two on more than one occasion for free. They were generous in offering short term U-Haul trailer rentals at discounted prices. They gave me free locks to put on my storage unit when mine did not fit. They gave out poinsettias to customers at Christmas. They are active in providing free services to charitable organizations.

Dealing with them was a very positive experience.

Good Luck

Thank you Coastal1006 sounds like you and your sister have done what I will be doing. Must be more common than I thought. I appreciate your response and will definitely consider Omni.

Many folks have been bailing from the Northeast, many are selecting the Southeast coast of NC as their destination.

My sister in law tells us even the family dog is much calmer, in his new environment, after only 2 wks.

The area you are considering is wonderful. The Omni facility in Shallotte would be best for this area. It is less than a mile from Ocean Isle Beach Rd.

Best of luck with your move.
