Can anyone tell me why the people that live in Moyock think they live on the outer banks? From what I seen they are at least 50 miles north of the outer banks.

Default Moyock

Actually, Moyock is about 10 miles WEST of the Outer Banks. Check out a map. The Outer Banks extend all the way up to Virginia Beach. Moyock is the largest town in Currituck County. The Northern Outer Banks are located in Currituck County (Corolla, Carova, etc.). Also, one of the most famous lighthouses on the Outer Banks, the Currituck Beach Light, is in Currituck County. One of the most well-respected all-inclusive resorts on the Outer Banks, the Sanderling, is also in Currituck County.

The Outer Banks is a long strip of sand (more than 100 miles long). It is not just Nags Head (which is about 45 miles south of Moyock). The Outer Banks is Cape Hatteras, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Southern Shores, Duck, Corolla, Carova, among other localities.

I live in Moyock and I can tell you that nobody here thinks they live in the Outer Banks. However, the Outer Banks are partially located in our county of Currituck so I think we have some claim to them.

Default Moyock

Moyock is 45 minutes from Kitty Hawk, to be almost exact it is about 37 miles give or take. I lived in both areas and it isn't the same area. You make a great point.
