Loads of changes going on - exploring two widely different options...and one is moving to Greenville for a hospital based role. We dont plan to relocate to Greenville - but rent or buy a condo/townhome near Vidant - so that I can work from there during the week. Goal is to stay close to the hospital, and has to be safe - preferably in an upscale area.
Of course, lots of condos/townhomes up for sale - however, wanted to throw it out to you all here - what areas would you recommend/avoid - any specific communities to look into?
If you're looking specifically for a townhome, I've heard good things about Covengton Square - it's at the corner of Arlington and Fire Tower just on the border of Winterville and Greenville. This is a nicer area of town, many of Greenville's professionals and upper middle class families have moved this way. It would be a good area to keep a place like you're talking about.
Only downside is that it's a bit dense, so there's a some 8am, noon, and 5pm traffic in the area coming to and from Vidant.
The Pointe at Wimbledon is an upscale apartment complex in that same area if you're looking for that. Along the same lines of apartments, the best spot you'd find right up against Vidant and ECU Medical Campus is called Heritage at Arlington, again, heard good things.
The west side of Greenville (where the hospital is) is not upscale, however there are a few nice complexes over there: Waterford Place; The Reserve; Treybrooke; Meridian Park; and maybe the condos in Spring Forrest. Keep in mind that while these complexes are nice, their adjoining complexes are not. Truth is, most Vidant employees (the well-paid ones anyway) work on the west side of Greenville and live in the east - or Winterville (which is almost exclusively single family homes). The east/southeast side of Greenville is nicer and closer to all your shopping and dining. The only drawback is the 30 minute rush-hour commute across town. If you change your search eastward, you can consider the aforementioned Covengton, Wimbledon Pointe, plus Tara; Treetops; Quail Ridge; Turtle Creek; Breezewood; Cape Point; Locksleys Woods; and Kitrell Farms (which are fairly new).
My son just moved into Heritage at Arlington. So far he likes it, but has only been there a short time. He works at Vidant and loves being close. He is in a one BR. It has a study and little balcony.

I've got a friend that lives in that same floorplan. It really is a nice place. With the AHEC Center and the Office Park adjoining it getting built, that little area should become nice pretty quickly. If they could get that trash demolished next door it'd be perfect.

He got his furniture delivered today and the apt is lookin' good!
Not only is the hospital close but several restaurants and the Mall are near as well. Arlington seems to have almost everything on it or within a street or two.
