What towns in NC would you say are the best for raising young children? Looking for good private schools that focus on progressive education.

Well if private education is what you are after, I would recommend you look at New Bern, NC and the best private academy in the area is Arendall-Parrot Academy in Kinston, but it is verey expensive....Now in Morehead City, it is a beautiful area to live, and I believe there is a school there called the Tiller School....

Thank you for taking the time to respond. It's funny, I have family that live in New Bern and they are always trying to get us to move down there.

Please define "progressive education" as this is a new one on me.

progressives are what liberals now call themselves from my understanding. I think this person is looking for a school that isn't very conservative.

Not to worry if you can't find liberal schools for young children in NC, once they get into a University they'll receive that kind of education there.

depends on the university. some are liberal, some are conservative. I hardly think that mainstream education pushes either one. at least I hope not.

HAHAHA! well then, if I ever have children, I will be sure to put them into private schools because I don't want my children growing up ignorant and dependent on government. no one out there can tell me that a place like liberty university, aka jerry fallwell U, is a liberal university. it is no wonder that the youth of this country is so ignorant if they are teaching liberalism in public schools. that is as bad as teaching the bible in school! take a close look at this so called presidential election. does it remind anyone else of an episode of american idol?
