We moved to New Bern in September of 2016, and haven't looked back. It's a great City, founded in 1710, and the States first Capitol. Located on the Neuse River, with easy access to the Atlantic its a sailors paradise. The quaint downtown area draws people in for any number of frequent events, such as the annual Mum Feast, Tour of Homes, Art Walks, Farmer's Market's etc. You can stay as busy as you want. If you're tired of the fast food fare, the local restaurants offer some of the best "foodie" experiences you'll have.

Before you think of Florida or Arizona, visit this beautiful little town along North Carolina's eastern shore. Our first trip was in April and we fell in love with the town, the area, the people and just about every thing we experienced.

Glad you like it. Other than town government and the condition of the streets, New Bern is a lot better than it gets credit for.

Are there any nice suburbs around new bern with good schools? We're thinking about moving from NH and new bern looks nice but we want to live in a town not a city. preferrably a town under 15,000 people.

Newport has decent schools. It is a suburb, rather than a true "town".

New Bern is a great little Town. If you are looking down in the area check out Farmville. It is a beautiful, quaint town. Very close knit and friendly.

New Bern is really more of a town than a city.

Farmville is close to Greenville which has a medical school and a decent hospital. Google maps can tell you the distance to the beach. New Bern is at least an hour, Farmville is further.
