Default Wedding in OBX

Looking for info on ideal locations in OBX to hold wedding. Want beach location with some kind of reception area/room near by. Any suggestions?
What about where to stay with large party?
Thanks!

Hi what a great place to get married.

You will find plenty of beach rental homes that are large enough to put a couple of families in the same place. Depending on the size of the wedding party I would probably contact a rental agency to see if there is a block of homes together so everyone can enjoy each other company Try Outer Banks Weddings: Have a Beach Wedding it lists everything you will need for a wedding. Have Fun.

Emeald Isle....Nice rental houses, lots of room. Book early if you are looking at May-June. You can get the Emerald Club or Ballyhoos for an afternoon reception party or party on the beach...the most fun option!

Any additional info on the area and how it is divided up and where is the best place would be great. I know that locals divide the Outer Banks into several different areas and just want to know the opinions of the areas.

Thanks.

If you look at this map and zoom out on it outer banks, nc - Google Maps

Roanoke Island includes Manteo and Wanchese alot of locals live in this area due it is cheaper than by the ocean. It is surrounded by Albermarle Sound and Croatan Sound and Roanoke Sound.

When you cross the bridge you have two options to go Northern Outer Banks or Southern Outer Banks.
You will see Corolla at the top IMO Corolla is a little more high end beautiful area with nice mix of forest as welll same for Duck.

In the southern shores it includes Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head.
This area is probably most develop area and where most of entertainment and chain stores are located.

South of Nags Head across the Oregon Inlet you enter Cape Hatteras Island this area is mostly protected from development so you will only find beach rental homes, mom and pop type shops and restaurants. The towns on this island are mostly the same with their own personality. The land width is not that large so you can walk from the sound side to the ocean side pretty easy in most places.

Buxton and Cape Hatteras have that small North Carolina beach town feel but I think a little more high end due to the Yacht clubs.

Ocracoke Island is an awesome place but you can only access it by ferry. The ferry ride can take least 45 minutes or more depending on ferry to get to. If you are coming from the North end most of that part of island is sand dunes and it can take least 20 minutes to get to Ocracoke itself.

I cannot think of any area I would avoid they are all great locations depending on what your needs are.

Sunrise over the ocean with a sunset over the sound very tranquil and romantic.

My sister in law got married at the Whalehead Club in Corolla. It was an outdoor wedding with the sound as a backdrop. What a beautiful place. The Whalehead Club at Heritage Park - Corolla, North Carolina
We then went to a nearby huge beach house where she had the reception. One of the most memorable weddings I have been to. The Whalehead Club at Heritage Park - Corolla, North Carolina

Here is one other link to search for Outer Banks wedding info Outer Banks Wedding Association

There are literally hundreds of beach houses that will accomodate you. The allow you to have the ceremony on the beach and then just turn around and walk up to your home for the reception. They can be as laid back or elegant as you like and the local vendors are accutomed to the routine. Moderator cut: tos violation
