6 miles from front gate of Winding River to the new Lowes grocery at the intersection of Hwy. 211 and Middleton/Midway Roads. 11 miles to the Walgreen's on Hwy. 211 in front of the Southport Lowe's home improvement.

I don't have a lot of detailed info on prices. I know St. James has everything from $150,000 condos to million dollar houses. Brunswick Forest ranges from the $230,000 to $600,000. Magnolia Greens has some sub $200,000 condos and goes up to $600,000 or so.

Holden and Sunset beaches are probably the quietest, but very family friendly, so I'm sure there will be children. They have minimal beachfront commercial development and are mostly single family homes. The west end of Oak Island is pretty quiet too.
