We are thinking about Swansboro as retirement sights are ahead, and I was wondering just how much "noise" does the town actually get from neighboring Camp Lejeune? Understood it just depends on activities, but is it noisy? Thank you.

I can't speak for Swansboro, but Sneads Ferry is a similar distance away from Camp Lejeune. We get frequent helicopter flights, and artillery firing. You get used to the noise and they generally limit it to before 11 PM. This week is an exception, and there may be artillery up until 2 AM.

It is less noisy than a thunderstorm directly overhead, if that helps.

If the noise would bother you, you might look further away at Cape Carteret, Emerald Isle, Beaufort and Morehead City. There are other retirees in each of these towns.
