I have dear, lifelong friends residing in the Outer Banks area. I'm interviewing for a job in E City. I always dream and nothing's certain, of course. (might blow the interview)

Is there a place that would be an easy commute to E City (Coast Guard Station) and would be an easy drive to KDH? I'd love an area where I could bring my horse. Pipe dream probably since he's getting up there in years but he's been at a retirement farm in KY for years.

I'm currently in CT and this would be a slight decrease in salary. I think between the cost of living and taxes I might be okay until I can try to climb back up. (My property taxes are $5000/yr here and that's a good chunk of salary difference) I have dear, lifelong friends residing in the Outer Banks area. I'm interviewing for a job in E City. I'll still be retiring at the level I am now as it's my "high 3". We like the area and retiring there (NC) is appealing. I have about 6yrs until I want to retire. I'm confident I can move up but if I don't I'll be content with the job.

You could look at Barco or Coinjock for a half-hour commute to EC. There is a horse boarding stable in Camden.

The area between EC and the OBX is very rural, so I would think you could absolutely find a place to keep your horse. Just know that if you are 30 minutes from EC, you're also 30 minutes from most restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, doctors, etc.
