Yes the girls have a fair amount of friends. The older one more as she is involved in so much...FFA, Beta club,Future teachers,SADD, and she works. Last year at Scoots and now she will be starting at Andy's ( the local teen hangout ) See down here if you live in or near Oriental you don't just hang out in Oriental. Since the county is so small population wise, the kids see the whole county as one town. It's quite common to live in Bayboro and best friend lives in Minnesott. There are only about 150 kids per grade in the high school. Alot of the kids who live in Oriental get jobs at The Bean, the local coffee shop and also at the camps.
Where have you been looking at houses? I mean any particular needs like boat dock or just want to be in town? Where would you be coming from?

We are looking at waterfront lots one on broad creek and another near there. My husband would build. We do want our own boat dock too. We think that by doing so the boys and us would open up more opportunity to meet others with similar interest. I appreciate all your help. Do the kids travel to New Bern much?

We just went to Oriental this past Tuesday to look at some houses. Our friend from Long Island lives there. Its a nice place but I had the same worries about friends for my kids. I have a 17 1/2 yr old daughter and a 15 yr old daughter and a 7 1/2 yr old son. I also did not see many kids around when we were just there. But then again, we were there to look at houses and spent most of our time doing that. We like a house in Bayboro. Have to sell mine first in Mooresville. We are looking at houses with acreage. Can't beat having horse and farm animals on a farm and then still having water so close to you!! My only worry was things for my kids to do.
