I need to move some furniture (sleeper sofa and dining room table and chairs) from Beaufort to Goldsboro. Do you all have recommendations for anyone who might be able to do a small job like this? It's too small for moving companies without grossly overpaying. We would be looking at a one way truck rental but it's kind of a hassle so we were trying to get some quotes.

U-Haul would probably be your best bet. Other than large trucks, cargo vans and trailers, they have pickup trucks for rent starting at $19.95. That may do the job, depending on how big your table is and how many chairs you got.

I think the uhaul would definitely work but the problem is we would be looking at a one way rental to avoid backtracking all the way back to Beaufort. One way rental costs can run significantly more than a two way so I wanted to get comparison from people who might be able to move the items for us.

Maybe go to your local grocery store parking lot and approach strong looking people with a cargo van or pick-up truck and inquire if they'd like to make some cash?

I did that once and got a taker...it was quite affordable.

We are in Raleigh so it was hard to ask around locally. Basically my in-laws asked us to help them get some furniture to Goldsboro for their other son. We were trying to avoid taking on the job ourselves because it would knock out a whole day of our upcoming visit dealing with that and my husband has a finger injury so I was concerned about moving heavy items.

I got on Yelp and found Mike's Hauling and they are charging us less than it would have cost us for a one way rental. We didn't want to have to go back to Beaufort afterward to turn in a rental truck and then drive all the way back to Raleigh so we couldn't do any of the cheap rental specials.
