Biltmore is definitely on my "to do" list - probably in the spring!

Default Getting excited

We are getting excited! My husband is leaving the end of this week and we have found a boarding house for him to live in. Next step: find me a job, sell this house, buy a new house. I guess time will tell what order all that happens in. However, I'm in no hurry. I want to be sure he likes it at Tryon, and they have been just great and very supportive, so I think he is really going to like it there.

Yeah, we drove around Taberna - it was at night (we only had a day to look around, not that New Bern is that big!), so we couldn't tell a lot - other than that it was a planned community. I was talking to a friend of ours who is a realtor here and he advised buying as much of a house as we could afford as close to the water as we could get. He had been to New Bern and he's thinking resale!

How far away is Havelock and Jacksonville and what is the job market like there?

Havelock is 20 minutes from the west part of town, and 15 from James City.

Jacksonville is 35 minutes. I am not sure about the job markets in those towns. Probably no better than New Berns, but worth a shot looking, thats for sure.

Where did all the years go, I woke up and the next thing I know, my husband and I are planning our retirement. Our house was put on the market in Virginia and sold. We had heard that N.C was a nice spot to lay back and smell the roses as they say. From where we come from, everyone is stress out because of the overgrown area. Traffic is a real nightmare, cost of living is high and so on. We rented a house in Nags Head for three months so we can find a home for us without being pressured. We are looking at New Bern and Fairfield also and I can't wait to make new friends in the area also. I like keeping busy doing my high school reunion in Va., Red Hat Group and was Shore Chairman of my husbands Yacht Club. I'm hoping to do the same in New Bern as soon as we find the right house and get settled. I'm a health care provider and a hair dresser before that so you can see that I need to be around people. I want to thank all of you for your thoughts on the best spot to retire. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts. Brenda 63
