Hello!

I would be moving from the RTP area to Leland, and I would be commuting to an area off Castle/Ann Streets a bit south of the historic area in Wilmington. It is 12 miles from were I would be living in Leland (near Compass Pointe) to the job.

How bad is the morning traffic, assuming an 8 am start time for work? If you can, could you please describe it how long it would take, total bottleneck or stop and go, and trouble spots? Where I live now, I live 3 miles from work and it takes me 15 minutes because of traffic lights and stop and go.

Thank you for your input on this!

Most days it should be an uneventful 15 minute drive. Recent upgrades to Hwy. 74 approaching the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and the opening of I-140 have made the drive much easier. However, there will be days when a wreck, a breakdown, or just unusually heavy traffic will slow things down. And when that happens there really isn't a good alternative.
