We are relocating to the Morehead City/Newport, NC area. I'm trying to find out about the homeschool community in the general area. I'm looking for groups for high school age. Is the homeschooling community active in this area? Is there another area that would be preferable? We are moving from an area with a huge homeschool population, so I know this will be smaller, but still hoping there might be some groups and resources. Thanks in advance!

The public high school in Newport (Croatan) is highly rated. The West Carteret High School serving Morehead City is also well above average. You may not find much homeschooling.

Try the True Vine group listed at the bottom of this link for a Morehead City resource.: https://www.nche.com/community/regions/nine

We live in a huge homeschooling area as well and looked into relocating to Carteret County. I found quite a few homeschooling groups on facebook and the moms were very helpful. We ended up not moving there. Good luck!
