Default Washington - Chocowinity

I am looking to retire to the Washington-Chocowinity area and am looking for information about:
1. Quality of medical facilities
2. Crime and areas to avoid
3. Subdivision and communities to look at.
We are thinking about adult communities, but are considering other subdivisions also. Looking for any comments, suggestions and recommendations that you readers may have in pointing me in the right direction. Please feel free to include any other comments or ideas about the area that you may find helpful.
Thank you all in advance for your input.

Washington has a small hospital, but Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville has a rather large facility that has a full range of services. It's about a half hour away from Washington.

I am unsure about crime in Washington - I hear it isn't too bad.

There are several new subdivisions in Washington, some catering to retirees. I would suggest trying to get on a site with MLS listings, or checking realtor.com. Cypress Landing in Chocowinity is a nice waterfront community with a golf course - it's pricey, though. There are a couple other newer subdivisions in Chocowinity that I haven't visited.

Hope this helps.

I worked with the Rich Company before I bought my house outside of Ayden. The realtors at Rich are very good and will make sure you get into the right neighborhood.
