Default Moving to NC from OR

My bf and I am getting ready to move from Oregon to NC in July. I am sifting through all the options for getting our stuff over there, and I am wondering if anybody can tell me which options are the best/what experiences you've had (good or bad) with any of them.

We're planning to get rid of all the big furniture, but need to at least ship a dresser and nightstand (family things, can't get rid of them). We are graduating college, so we don't have a ton of stuff right now.

I'm considering:
1. Paying movers
2. Renting a U-Haul
3. Shipping stuff through Amtrak express & driving over
4. Using the US Postal Service media mail (for books/movies)

Are there any other options that I'm missing? Thanks for the help!

Default Another shipping option

Just saw your post and wanted to give you another option to check. We had furniture shipped from Kentucky to NC via a truck line years ago. We contacted different companies to find one that would pick up the furniture and boxes and
add it to another load and deliver to our current address. At the time, that was the most cost efficient method. Some companies also ship pods. Good luck with your move!

Default Brookings, Oregon

I want to move to Brookings, Oregon within the next 6 - 8 month and live on the Pacific Ocean, condo preferably. However, I want to RENT first and have only found a "few" condos for rent.

Question: Does anyone KNOW someone who might NOT post to the computer, but has a condo for rent? Size? 1 bedroom is just fine.

Thanks
