How big is the base there? I've heard it's big. But I'm just wondering what we are in for population-wise when we get there.

Website for base:
https://www.cherrypoint.usmc.mil/default.asp (broken link)

From another website, link at bottom:

"More than 49,000 people make up the Cherry Point-related population, including active duty and retired Marines, the civilian workforce, and their dependents. The area here enjoys a temperate climate with relatively mild winters, hot summers and precipitation throughout the year.

Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point now includes 13,164 acres on the air station proper, with an additional 15,975 acres of auxiliary activities, including Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, along Bogue Sound in Carteret County."

Thanks. I was under the impression it was nearly 100,000. 50k is good size.

Remember, many of those are military and come and go with deployments. Traffic wise, it is heavy from about 6:30 to 7:30 and from 3:00 to 4:00. I use to work at the Norfolk Naval Base and Cherry Point is a piece of cake to get around in comparison.
