most of locals who do not live in a own beach home or rental live in Wanchese or Elizabeth City

I don't know much about Wanchese, but I did visit E.C. when I was there and I wasn't too excited about it. First of all because of the commute would be about 1 1/2 hours? for my hubby to go to work. I had also talked to some locals there who didn't give a favorable review. What is your reaction to those cities? Thanks for your help.

Wanchese you will find more manufactured home type living
I just spent Independence Day Weekend in Elizabeth City and it look like a city that was in the 80's . The people appear to be more of the blue collar type but it only 45 miles from Nags Head. Unless you can afford living on the actual outer banks and most places are looking for vacation type renters since they can make more money off of them you will need to also look into Manteo or consider living in the mobile homes on Wanchese.

good info, thank you! I thought EC was farther than 45min. The only problem I have is that I was told by a local that their school system wasn't great. I think I'll focus in on Wanchese. Thanks!!!
