Did anyone besides me hear on the channel 6 news yesterday that Wilmington made the top one hundred most dangerous cities to live.....at number seventy-eight? Apparently, someone comes out with a list of the top four hundred each year and this is the first time Wilmington made the top one hundred.???????

No, I missed that one. I'm surprised they'd even broadcast that tidbit.

You are correct, sir, it's on the WECT website right now. I googled "Wilmington, NC most dangerous cities" and it took me to the link.

That's sad. I grew up in Wilmington (live in Raleigh now), and my folks still live there, as well as lot of good friends. Every time I visit the town seems to look more run down to me. The current city leaders just aren't taking care of the history, or bringing in new jobs. Now they're letting crime run rampant.

jmarquise.....it amazes me how you always come back with that Detroit thing of yours. Yes,it is a big deal for a town the size of Wilmington.Detroit has about 900,000 more people. You expect it more in larger cities, but not in a small, college town like Wilmington. It's totally ridiculous and unacceptable.

I just say it because I think it's funny that people find wilmington "scary." in the roughest of neighborhoods, I feel fine walking around. crime statistics are all based on per capita. they do it per 100,000 people. I expect crime in any town, but I have lived in DC, detroit, and memphis, and they are all way worse. if you think that the more people you have, the more crime you should expect, look at the crime index for NYC. numbers don't equate crime.
