Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the 11th Street area in Wilmington. I have lived in NC all my life and now have a chance at a Job in Wilmington and want to live near my job so 11th is very near.

After all the posts on here and all that's been in the newspaper about crime downtown,I can't believe you're even asking for that information. Read prior posts and newspaper articles and you'll have all the light you'll need to hopefully make a wise decision. You live downtown at your own risk.

Personally, I would NOT live on 11th Street. That's just me. I would probably live somewhere else and commute.

I'm not sure if 11th Street has ever been considered "safe". At least not in the 13 years I have been here...

put it all in perspective. I worked on the north end of 10th street for quite a while and was very comfortable during the day. it's mostly older people in that part, who are concerned about crime as well. at night it is shady, but don't think the residents approve. I talked to several concerned people while doing work there. overall, I probably wouldn't choose to live there, but then again, there are a lot of people on these forums that wouldn't choose to live where I live. to each their own.
