We are looking to take a vacation to one of the beaches and not sure which one. We are coming from Indiana, driving, and looking to stay for 5 days-more than likely a Monday through Friday and do the driving on the week-ends. We would like to stay on the beach in a hotel, condo, house rental, etc., but nothing too expensive. We would also like to be kinda close to Leland. We have family there that we will visit. Could anyone help us with this? Places to stay, eat, things to do, etc.
Some things of interest: Shopping, Zoo's or aquariums, the Battleship, Deep sea fishing, and anything that you could help with. We aren't drinker's, so that is no big deal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I would stay at carolina beach. there is actually a zoo near it, and the aquarium is down that way. it's more of a "beach" beach than say, wrightville. you have a movie theater, putt putt golf, and things like that. you are probably 25-30 minutes from leland and the downtown area.

I agree w/jmarquise. Carolina or Kure Beach would be perfect for you.

Thanks for the info! Do you have any suggestions on what to do? Anything we must do or see while we are there? Do you know about the deep sea fishing? Which one is not too expensive, good reputation, that sort of thing? Also, I think we are looking at the Courtyard by Marriot at Carolina Beach? Is this good? Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks everyone!

I'm from New Bern and not a local down at Carolina Beach, but there are plenty of things we like to see and down down there. You might want to visit Wilmington and take a tour of the USS Carolina. Kids loved that. Also go to the Aquarium at Ft. Fisher, we've been numerous times and it's nicely done. You'll have no problem filling your time, to say the least the great beaches there!

Oh, scads of fishing charters.....folks more local can fill you in on good boats to go on.

^^^excellent suggestions. I would say that you could easily make a day of downtown wilmington taking some of the guided tours. the courtyard at marriot should be good, most of them are. as for other things to do, hmmm. depends on what you like to do. you know about the battleship. I might also suggest orton plantation.
