Hi All ~

I have searched the previous threads and read up on those (thanks!).

My 17 year old son and I will be vacationing during his Fall Break. We are considering the Outer Banks. I would like to know the best place for both a high school senior and an early 40's mom. If you have locations, accommodations, and activity recommendations I would appreciate it. We will be driving there from East Tennessee.

Also, are we crazy for planning a trip there at that time of the year? Is that a bad time for hurricanes in that area?

Thanks in advance!

Nope-You'll find that Oct/Nov along the entire coast of NC absolutely delightful! High temps. averaging in the coolish 70's-Low humidity. And the over-all fishing is the best this time of year!!

That time of year, I'd recommend staying in the more populated areas such as Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, etc. There are more year-rounders in these areas, and therefore, more amenities stay open. We stayed in Salvo over Christmas several years ago and it was a ghost town. Most everything was closed, which was fine by us because we knew that ahead of time.
