Hi all, I am coming down there on vacation next week and I will be bringing my pet. I dont want to leave her in the hotel room alone. She is a very tiny Maltese. Are there any restaurants in the outer banks that are decent and also pet friendly? She would be in a small bag carrier the whole time and she doesnt bark.

Default Dogs

I see that you love your little sweetheart. I love my little girl too. Frankly afrer reading about big gators, black widows, posionous snakes, and what not, I am scared to death to take my Mandy that way. I could never forgive myself if anything happened to her. I don't need to see all those palms that bad.

I've never seen restaurants that allow pets on the Outer Banks. Many are quite liberal about bare feet or no shirts, but I've never seen pets in restaurants. Being as your dog is so small, you obviously can't just tie her outside while you go eat. I'd say you're going to have to leave her in your room while you go eat or get lots of carry out or delivery!

Make sure you check the hotel pet policy -- some don't want pets left unattended or they must be in a crate if left alone in the room. Hope you enjoy your time on the OBX.

What you need to look for is a restaurant with outdoor sitting. I've eaten at several places on the Banks that have patio seating with my dog sitting at my feet. To be honest however I find it easier to leave her at the hotel/condo/house and bring her something home. It's a lot less headache and I can enjoy the meal a lot more that way. If the place you are staying doesn't want your dog left outside of a crate the best place for her is usually the bathroom if she is a small dog. I take the crate with us if we go but she hates the thing so much I just find it easier to put her in the bathroom. Hope this helps.
