Default Looking for NEW in Southport/Oak Island

Hi All,

I'm considering buying a 2nd home/vacation home near the beach.

I like Southport/Oak Island area but would consider something close to that area if I couldn't find anything in that exact area that works.

It can be up to 15 minutes, drive time, from the beach.

I want brand new, neighborhood with pool. Townhouse or house is fine.

Can anyone make suggestions? Names of new neighborhoods would be helpful.

Thanks! Vicki

I can't remember the names of the developments, but there are plenty. that area was WAY overbuilt and the real estate market is dismal in that area. I would imagine that unsold inventory should be high so you can expect a deal.

I'm not seeing that the area around Southport is overbuilt and I was just there two weekends ago. Did something happen that I missed, last weekend?

Where are these new neighborhoods? What are their names?

Vicki

I like St. James, as well. However, for the same price as a condo in St. James costs, I get get a single family home in a few of the other neighborhoods. Decisions, decisions!

Vicki, have you considered Bald Head Island? There are a TON of homes for sale over there right now, my dad lives there and owns the hardware store on the island. He said you wouldn't believe how much some of them have dropped.

We have friends that live on Bald Head Island and when we first began to look, there wasn't anything under $300K. I'll have to check again but I think it may still be too rich for hubby!!! Thanks for the suggestion.
