We are renting a house at Topsail Beach for the week of Thanksgiving. I am not familiar with the area and the grocery stores there. I was wondering if anyone knows a grocery store nearby that you can purchase a prepared turkey from the deli to go for Thanksgiving? We have family visiting and want to enjoy the day and not spend all of it cooking but I thought this would be nicer than going out to eat.

Most towns in NC have a Food Lion grocery store and they MIGHT do this.Google Food Lion groceries in NC and you might locate a store near Topsail. Call and ask. Harris Teeter is another store that might do this also but there arent as many of those.Dont know if there is one near Topsail but again, google and see.

I believe there is a Food Lion in Sneads Ferry, which is close to Topsail (just across the bridge).

There's a Food Lion in Surf City, on the mainland side of the intracoastal waterway, at the intersection of Rts 50 and 210. I think they may do prepared turkey if you order it ahead of time. Either that or head south on Rt. 17 to the Harris Teeter in Porter's Neck (Wilmington).

I just ate dinner last night in Golden Corral and noticed a sign advertising whole turkeys to go with the trimmings for Thanksgiving day. Think it was a 10# for like $70?? Also in Mairfaire, there is a speicialty market that likely would have them. Thats probably about a 20 mile drive for you though.

And I second the comment comparing Harris Teeter to Food Lion. I came from Rochester NY, home of Wegmans, shopped there for years, but having Harris Teeter here, we don't at all miss Wegmans, in fact the bakery stuff we think is even better at Harris. I've never had so much angus beef since I've been down here at Harris Teeter, very good quality.

Default Topsail Island

I grew up on Topsail Island. Topsail Beach Is at the south end of TI. Which means 13 miles from the closest grocery store. Food Lion is on the gateway to the beach ,but off the island. If you want a turkey and trimmings already cooked, I think you have to put your order in now.
There is nolthing activities to do that time of year. Every thing would be off the Island. There will be restaurants open for Thanksgiving so that would be an option. OR look for a caterer that will cook for you and deliver it to your house.

I would most definitely put my order in now in "The Fresh Market" in Wilmington. The freshest ingredients and quality are unsurpassed. Enjoy your dinner and Happy Thanksgiving. kelsie
