Hello - many of the posts I have seen on here are those who are moving with Children. I am a 29 year old female looking to move to the Wilmington, NC area as soon as I obtain employment. Can anyone offer insight into the area, job market, where to live, night life? Anyone compete in Triathlons around the area?
Any information you can give would be appreciated! Thanks!

the job market here is totally going to depend on what you do. the job market in general here is not good, but there are a few markets that they cater to here. mostly touristy jobs. downtown has decent nightlife, and during the summer, wrightsville beach has some good spots. as far as where to live, it depends on what you are looking for. they have a nice town center called mayfaire that has apartments. downtown is reasonable as far as rent. I would try to live close to where you work. traffic here is bad for a town so small. lots of stop lights.

I'd second what jmarquise said, and yes - I think there are a few triathalons. I think the WAC (Wilm. Athletic Club) and the YMCA both hold one.

The job market here is tough. I wouldn't recommend coming without something lined up. There are more job listings on craigslist these days than online and in the local paper, don't forget to try there, plus you might even find a good apartment on there as well. There are lots of local triathalons & 5k's and things going on, usually something every month. Check with the local parks and rec associations and they can give you all the dates! Good luck!
