Two of my girlfriends and I are looking to move to the Wilmington area. We live in Michigan right now and need help finding some place to live. We don't mind a larger city, but we wouldn't mind a smaller one near Wilmington if there is anything close and safe. We are all hairdressers and also looking for jobs so any help would be fabulous!

Hey KBrew, I think you will love it here. Burgaw and Leland are the small town areas close to Wilmington. Hampstead is also close by.It's pretty rural between Wilmington and Raleigh. There are lots of small towns near Raleigh that you might like better and would be close to 2 hours away from the beach. I would suggest you get a map from North Carolina and look at the small towns. If I can answer any other questions just e-mail me at yevans@charter.net. I've lived in NC all my life.

You might want to give either Morehead City or New Bern a look. Not as big as Wilmington, but nice on their own merit.

Ditto, never had an accident here in Durham where I grew up and live now. But when I lived in Wilmington for one year I was rear ended three times! I think it's the combination of college students, tourists, and old people.

Burgaw. County seat of Pender Co. and movie location.

Hospital, courthouse, county sheriff and state prison.

Good small cafe like resturants (AB Grill [middle eastern];Cafe 'Lardi [paninni sandwiches, gourmet coffee]; Hollands Shelter [seafood]; the Depot Grille [country and BBQ]) and the usual interstate fastfood fare.

Very good zoneing laws and town is wonderful small town flavor with a fully occupied town square.

3 movies made here in the 2 years I've been here.

37 minutes to the beach by interstate 40.

Something to consider, most NC towns don't have sidewalks in residential areas. Burgaw has more than most.

Some industry in the industrial park.

A nice town. Best church for the truth is Pentecostals of Burgaw on NC 53 West.

John
