I was born and raised in the mid-south. From Tennessee to Texas. From Oklahoma to Arkansas. 20 years in Georgia. And the last 5 in the strange land just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. (just kidding)

I, for some unknown reason , have always admired North Carolina and wanted to live there one day.

Oh what joy I had when I learned that my wife will soon have an interview for a residency position in Greenville.

While there is no guarantee she'll get the position, I want to be able to explore some of the options we'll have if it turns out that we'll move.

My work experience has revolved around electronics. I did spend 7 years working for myself, doing various computer related activities. But the IT field is flooded and you need to have friends or family involved to get a job. Or so it seems.

I'd like to know what the job market is for the surrounding area to Greenville would be like. Are there any manufacturers of high tech electronics nearby? I'd rather not have to go learn a new trade, but I'm not to shy to try just about anything. The exception is sales related jobs. If you tell me you don't want something, I sure as heck ain't gonna try and talk you into it. I am very competent with computer hardware and all kinds of electronics.

I'm headed over there in the next couple of weeks and will have a couple of days to spend looking around. So if you have some ideas, or recommendations of places that I should check out, please reply and mention them.

For IT related positions, i'd check the hospital, ECU, or even DSM Pharmaceuticals. Don't know of any high-tech manufacturing around here, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. If you can work on computers, you'll probably find a job.
