Have you found yourself wishing for more (or any) kinds of businesses you've found missing/lacking here in Eastern NC?

What kind?

Me? I wish there were more Asian/Thai food restaurants, and more ethnic restaurants, in general.

And a really good used bookstore...

your scribe,
LittleD

Well gosh, let's include 'em all--just name your area and what you wish you had there but don't. My personal wish list posting was for coastal NC.

Any entrepreneurs listening? Open a funky Texas type red-sauce barbecue stand--you've got a built in customer base with City-Data 'cue lovers ...possible Texas Bubba's Texas-Style BBQ from South Texas???

Default Places I'd like to see more of:

I don't live in Coastal Carolina yet (one more year of working at least) but when we do come to town its hard to find a good dance place. We sometimes go to the Midnight Rodeo in Havelock or the Sheraton Hotel in New Bern. I'd love to see a place that has some good old Carolina Shag.

"I'd love to see a place that has some good old Carolina Shag".
Boy was that ever the mainstay here (Crystal Coast) in the 60-80's.
Imagine my befuddlement (coming from a British family) when asked by a pretty lady if I cared to "shag".

Shagging is the official dance of Carteret County (Crystal Coast)
Google "Shag" and "Atlantic Beach"

I would love to see some quality day care centers. A real mall within reasonable driving distance. A Barnes & Noble, LA Fitness and some really high tech companies to employ those of us with tech degrees. That's what the area really needs, high quality employers to ignite the economy. And all of the restaurants should be smoke free too.
