As previously stated, I am relocating from CT to Wilmington in a week or so and need a place to stay with my dog. I am looking for reasonable accommodations that will accept pets. I am also looking for doggy day care and a good vet in the Wilmington area. Thanks
Google "Empie Dog Park Wilmington NC". [You'll see news stories abt it--it's brand new.] That would be a great place to get vet recs from fellow dog owners.
Also Google "dog friendly hotels Wilmington NC" -- first site I see lists 3 options in Wilmington. Plus a bunch of other sites you could look through for lodging.
If you are looking to stay in a motel, you won't have trouble finding one that takes pets in NC. Most charge a small fee (around $10 a night) but that's it. All Motel 6's take pets, as do many Super 8's, Days Inns, etc. I think nicer, more expensive hotels will be a little more restrictive with their pet policies--some only allow small pets (like under 15-20 pounds) but I really don't think it'll be hard to find a place that's ok for you and your pet.
