We are a family from Long Island, N.Y. with two small children. We are considering a move to the suburbs around Wilmington....possibly Ogden, New Hanover or Brunswick. Does anyone have any info about the communities, the schools, the general "feel" of these areas? We are a family who loves the beach, fishing and enjoying some quality family time in a nice safe area. Thank you so much for any insights!!

If I were going down in that direction, I would at least take a look at Rocky Point, Castle Hayne, and Hamstead, NC. The property taxes are less in Pender County than in New Hanover County. Although I believe that the schools might be better in Wilmington than the smaller towns that I have listed. My BIL lives in Rocky Point and it is beautiful down there. It is not right in the heart of the city but near enough to the beaches to make every day access if you wanted it. The a little further north there is Warsaw and Rose Hill. But I still say if I were to move down there and we have talked about it I would go to Rocky Point or Castle Hayne. Good luck.
