Easy Flood Risk Map (Holly Ridge, Topsail Beach: insurance, costs, versus)

In the past you have had to go to your county's or or a state flood zone map and try to read it.

Now the Feds have a national flood risk estimator. It's the red box in the lower right corner: Flood Insurance | Flood Maps | Flood Risk | FloodSmart

I tried a couple of obviously different addresses, and those seemed correct. So hopefully some of the potential relocators can answer their own questions about developments.

Had to use Holly Ridge versus Topsail Beach, but the cost range seems accurate for our place. Though the high range seems excessive at $7000! On the island itself the overall costs vary from lot to lot.

We just purchased a lot in Ocean Ridge Plantation and my hubby found the good NIS flood maps - we are at elevation 60 feet - which is actually 10 feet above where we are in Mount Laurel, NJ so at least I know we are good!!!

What is NIS? Are these online maps or paper?

oopps, sorry, typo. GIS maps from the Government. google "GIS mapping" and you get really easy to read mapping of an area; elevation, who owns the property, lot numbers, etc.
