My family and I are planning a short beach trip in mid-April, and I was curious what sort of weather and water temps I could expect in either the Outer Banks or Wilmington. I've only been to the Florida coast this time of year, I don't really know what to expect here.

Perhaps we'd be better off making a longer drive to Georgia or the Jacksonville area?

It's really hit or miss. You could see cold 50s and wind or warm 80s and calm. Keep an eye on the weather channel and plan for both.
