If he has no legal claim to your apartment then that clears up what could be a huge problem.

You can get a restraining order without a lawyer. Go down to the courthouse and ask. Be prepared to write down all the violent things he has done to you. Then the order has to be served on him.

Personally I would change the locks, box up all his stuff and leave it outside with a copy of the restraining order be done with it. No need to shout about what you both already know has occurred.

Thank you, I totally agree. Wish I could help this person, but I think many great suggestions have been offered. It's not that we don't care, we do, but this forum is Coastal North Carolina, and we are asking the moderators to pleez advise poster to seek help as soon as possible, and possibly consider re-posting in the relationship category, or another forum, that could address the issues. My heart truly goes out to her/him, and I am so sorry this is taking place, please do take the advice of those who have responded to your plight.
