My extended family was planning to spend a weekend together in Wilmington area during August. Since we are a group of 17 people we were looking to rent a Beach house for 2 nights. However, I am unable to find anything online. I have contacted couple of Rental agents and am still waiting for their reply.

Can anyone recommend how I should go about it?

Are there any other options to a big Beach house?

Hotel rooms at the beach are better for short stays.

I don't think renting out a beach house for two nights is to a property owner's advantage. I'd be surprised if you found something.

I'd say you are out of luck but try VRBO.com, you may find someone there willing to work with you.

Not gonna happen. Your only chance would be to wait until the last minute and see what is available. Deal with the owner directly through vrbo.com or homeaway.com. I wouldn't even bother contacting people this far out.

It will be pretty hard to do in August. You would have better luck in the offseason.

Correct on the offseason comment, until Labor Day it's peak season so you won't find many that are available in shorter periods. Many no less then three days.
