Do not see BOG and NCGA agreeing to this proposal, but we'll see.

couple of things:

(1) the city has bundled together several significant bike/ped projects for submission in this year's BUILD/TIGER grant cycle through the USDOT. If you don't know what that means--it's money allocated directly to local governments (rather than through the state) to accelerate innovative bike/ped projects. If approved, this would completely fund, among other things:

--construction of Phase 3B of the Tar River Greenway (Memorial Dr to Vidant), a "Millennial Connector" (replacing abandoned track in the Uptown District) and a "Campus Connector" that would link ECU Main Campus to the S. Tar Greenway via the Town Culvert;
--A complete streetscape/realignment of 5th Street in West Greenville all the way to ECU Main Campus, with roundabouts at 14th/Tyson and 5th/Albemarle.

application goes in 7/15 and we should know in November the outcome. fingers crossed.

(2) a new bike shop is coming to Greenville near Crossfit Greenville and Pitt Street Brewing. Promises to be much better quality of service than the Bicycle Post. not the owner but happy to chat with anyone about it.

Last: anyone know what's going on across Clark Street from the brewery?

Is Pedals & Pistons still over there? I have always had bad experiences with Bicycle Post and now use Babbitt's. Would be nice to have another option in Uptown, though.

pedals and pistons has been out of business for around six months. the owner (a) built a bmx park without a permit from the city and (b) without permission from his landlord. think that property is going to get turned over in the near future anyhow as pitt/clark street build out.

Chris (shop owner) is easily the best mechanic in the area. bicycle post dealers are lining up to end their exclusive and hop on with him. will be interesting to see how he balances the shop and the new bikeshare company (he's the former operations manager for lime and i expect he'll also run gotcha's operation).

expect to see his shop evolve from a traditional bike shop and into a bike "third place" over time. great private back space for seating, dining, coffee, events. similar to pitt street brewing in terms of floor space and shape. bike industry is moving to the "shop-plus" model and both babit's and bicycle post have failed/neglected to hop on board.

State Theater getting a shoutout from a Raleigh radio station. Great to see it’s drawing in folks to Greenville especially from the Triangle.
