don't know if others saw this, but the head chef (lucas owens) of chef and the farmer is set to open a world-inspired restaurant called 'Native' on dickinson ave. i believe this is going into the old carolina inn/cafe on dickinson and 9th based on some chatter.

separately, instagram account @thenextbestthinggreenville shows renovations going on at 805 dickinson ave, next to the friendly boutique. very curious as to what that will be, as i know it's been looked at as a speakeasy/wine-jazz bar (among other things).

They've got a niche that they are filling and a move to just a taproom/bar with music should continue to work well. Still seems odd they didn't try to find a larger place in the area during their time there.

This should give another potential brewery the opportunity to come to the area. I think the city could use a couple more breweries.
I'm inclined to agree. The two owners/brewers are nice guys but their beer wasn't that great. The last time I was in there they were selling $2 or $3 Yuengling cans which seemed to be what most people were drinking.

I think Nauti Dog is supposed to be opening at some point. Their Facebook says they are hoping to open by September but who knows. I have been reading about that brewery for years. I'm not aware of any other breweries opening in the near future but it would be nice to have one not in downtown.

nauti dog and local oak should both open late this year or early next year in downtown winterville. major demo/rebuild needed in both buildings.

of the two, i'd bet on nauti dog to last. local oak will depend on how good ben is at running a business--his beer skills are solid.

trollingwood repurposing itself as dickinson avenue christy's ($10 fare with beer + drinks) would kill. city and real estate groups both want business that draws people onto dickinson during normal working hours. no real lunch place on dickinson outside of burgers.

Agreed. American is the only other that uses DC as a hub... Would be great for the city and sign of continued growth.
