according to this article back in 2007:

Gander Mountain Acquires Overtonís

Gander is operating Overtons as a subsidiary of Gander. So I don't think there will be a name change.

Right. Overton's has a too strong of a name in the watersports industry. Gander buying Overton's make sense. Gander is a primary winter focused company, while Overton's is summer. So you can keep your business going through the whole year.

I assume it's related to this post:

Info Dump!

Charles Blvd is getting a new sidewalk on the western side from Red Banks to Hyde Drive. Kinda sucks it doesn't go a few more 100ft to The Landing or whatever that student complex is called now. It should start next year.

Greenville is getting permission to continue to build Green Mill Run Greenway. Remember this greenway goes from Greensprings Park to Charles Blvd at Green Mill Run. The new section, which was already known, will follow Green Mill Run to across Evans Street, then follow Arlington to Evans Park (which is right at Rose High School). It will add around 1.4 miles and design will begin now. Construction will be sometime in 2012-13. It will be completely done by the last day June 2014. The reason it took so long for this is the NCDOT required the city to wait until the South Tar River section was done, to see what money was left over. Remember that ECU owns a lot of this land. The school has/had a ropes course in these woods. Plus Blount Fields are right by this. So this is a good way to integrate these pieces of land more.

Greenville is asking for another 200k grant for the brownfields located (for the most part) around 10th, Evans, Dickinson, and Reade. We already received 200k in 2007. It seems they're trying to clean up that area to make the old Imperial Tobacco warehouse among other place, clean enough to live and work in. Like the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. If/Once this gets cleaned up, it will make a huge boost in the positive downtown scene.

Not sexy, but there is going to be a new pump station north of West Meadowbrook Park to serve the Health Sciences campus. They're going to condemn a lot of parcels around there, which is needed because it is a little bit ghetto.

The Evans Street Gateway project is continuing. It will complete a new street scape from 10th St to 5th St. Not sure of a construction time, but the cost will come from the 2004 general obligation bond issue for the Center City.

We're applying for a grant to build the Dream Park, which is behind the Greenville Shelter.

Had lunch at Carolina Ale House today. They had planned all along to cover the open sides upstairs due to weather & Winter, it had nothing to do with the post that said they were going to be "forced" to do this because of accidents. Before the enclosure they did not serve food upstairs only drinks & that is where people could smoke. They are not sure yet if they are going to serve food up there now with the enclosures. Last Fri. it was pouring & they could not utilize the upstairs area. We were told this by one of the Managers.
