It ain't happening. Dave and Busters requirements are:

Market Requirements
Super-regional Draw:
•1,000,000 SF retail (1/4 mile)
•100,000 daytime population (3 miles)
•500,000 population (10 miles)

The average Dave and Busters does $10,000,000 in annual volume and has 500,000+ visitors.

Dave and Busters

Try again in 100 years (maybe).

^ They could be trying a "smaller market" version.

There are no plans for a Dave & Buster's in any city in NC. Just the Concord location.

A developer could renovate the Old Steve & Berry's and make it into a very nice, large attraction.
Sometimes, an individual is able to create a business that mirrors a larger competitor and make it into something successful. Texas Steakhouse was first opened in Lynchburg because there were few companies that had their eyes on the market there. It did very well, and eventually, the owner sold out to Boddie-Noell. It also opened the eyes of developers; quite a few national companies followed on Texas Steakhouse's heels. Lynchburg and Greenville are similar markets and sometimes it takes some initiative from locals to make things happen.

A new Residence Inn is breaking ground on West 5th Street across from Microtel in front of where the new VA Medical Clinic is going to be built.

Haven't noticed, but it makes sense. Once the VA gets going, along with PCMH/ECU, you'll be hard pressed to find an open hotel around the immediate area.

Would love to see the "other stuff" get cleared out around there to the River as well...

I actually posted about this around a year ago. Residence wants a new Inn right in the heart of the medical district. The nature of the stays at Residence is the reason. They tend to be several days to weeks at a time and that is just what they need in the medical district.

The hotel on the south side of Stantonsburg, across the street from the hospital is actually a Courtyard by Marriott, not a Residence Inn.
