A local lawyer is also talking with the County to purchase the county offices complex near the hospital. This is interesting and will be followed.

I know the County government offices are planning on moving to either uptown or to the other offices on New Hope Road. I always thought the hospital/East Carolina would take over that land. As long as it is a good project/investment, I don't mind.

Maybe this is the chance for some of you all's baseball dreams to come true. Wilmington chose not to invest in baseball. The Lynchburg owners sold the team to Atlanta last year, as it was the only independently owned team in the Braves franchise. Looking for a home, but I'd rather them stay in Lynchburg.

That would be huge for the Atlanta Braves and Greenville. Two teams already in the Carolina League in NC. This would be great.

The Carolina League would probably be the "highest" MiLB league we could get into immediately. The next league up (Southern AA) took the Mudcats away, and AAA (International) has the Bulls and Charlotte Knights.

Oh gosh this would be gooood.

I would be surprised if Greenville would pony up the dollars, and I doubt if the market is as attractive, but on the other hand, the Braves don't care. They have a new stadium in Rome- much smaller than Greenville or Lynchburg. I wonder if there might be some moves by the city to upgrade the stadium and make a serious effort to keep the Braves in Lynchburg. I have some connections here with the Hillcats- curiosity might get the best of me.

Well the Rome Braves are in the South Atlantic League, which is Class A. Lynchburg is in Class A-Advanced, which is a step higher. So yes Rome is around 36k, and in a metro of 96k, but the league is smaller.

I didn't think Wilmington would go for it anyway, based on their history on the issue. I hope the Braves have a list of towns that could be destinations for a team and that Greenville is on it.

I want a Minor League team here, period. But to have a "close" team, in the Braves, would be cake. Everyone in the south grew up watching the Braves on TBS.

Pitt County Schools is in the process of selling the land the bus garage is located on. This is on Mall Drive, with frontage on Greenville Boulevard. It is also beside 11 Galleria. I could see them buying this 16 acre parcel.

Even though they have some room to expand, this is a great piece of land.

I'm sure some people have heard, but Chico's in Winterville is closed. Sign on the door says it's forever so I guess they are not moving. That sucks, it was my favorite place to eat & I hate going to downtown Greenville.

It be a nice way to tie in the two shopping centers. The county ought to take in a pretty profit from this sale.
