It is actually going to be a single family residential home. They have bought the house and are refurbishing the house and land.

You are correct. A local plastic surgeon bought it. So no apartment-style, B&B, or any other kind of business.

I would love to see more of that type of redevelopment over there.

anyone know what is going on at the corner of 14th & G-ville Blvd. They torn out some wooded area & looks like are going to move a house over there beside the old Teen Center. Clearing that lot for something?

I remember a couple years back, the owner of the lot requesting a rezoning because he wanted to build a small strip mall there. I think his request was approved, but I'm not entirely sure about it.

Glad the house is getting a tuck/lift...any augmentation being done?

The house is being torn down. My dad used to cut that lot and knew the owners well. The lot has been sold to build a strip mall I think not 100% sure.

Seems like a rather awkward place for a strip mall doesn't it?

Mac & Cheese Restaurant and catering is opening in the former Pete's Wycked Grill off firetower road.
And a construction worker told the cashier at Kangaroo Gas station that China 10 is building beside them on firetower road.

You're talking about the house at 14th and Gville Blvd, not W 5th St...the W 5th St house would be likely on the Historic Register...doubt that will ever be torn down.

But the 14th and Gville Blvd development is a good thing (even if you are losing a house) in my opinion, commercial there makes a lot of sense, especially if it is neighborhood commercial...a "node" if you will.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but U.S. Cellular has a really nice, brand new store on Greenville Blvd. It's located beside the Verizon store. It's similar in size to the newer AT&T store, only a little nicer.
